Betsy Hnath

Betsy HnathBetsy Hnath is a writer, mother, and wife from the Washington, D.C. area. Her pieces have appeared in various newspapers, magazines and websites on issues ranging from women’s rites to pop music. She is content manager for Wisdo, a site dedicated collecting and distributing wisdom about life’s most significant challenges from those who have been there to those who currently find themselves on that particular path.

Most recently Betsy’s work has focused on her experiences as a cancer caregiver to her husband with stage IV metastatic melanoma, and as a patient herself with stage II breast cancer (both diagnosed before age 40) all while still trying to balance life with a young family. She will never again gripe about sunscreen, push-up bras or healthcare premiums again.

Betsy’s work has been featured in The New York Times, Huffington Post, and the Manifest Station. Her blog, Bets and Pieces (www.betsandpieces.com), explores life with and after cancer, parenthood, and other musings.

Having found herself in both roles, Betsy is passionate about supporting those who support: Caregivers. She is keenly aware of the needs that are unique to the caregiving community and advocates strongly on their behalf. Her humor and candor create an environment where others feel comfortable to share their experience and leave feeling less alone.

Topics: Caregiver Support & Experience; Compassion Fatigue; Coping Techniques; Health & Online/Social Media; Humor & Medicine; Parents & Cancer; Patient Navigation; and Survivor Experience.
