Richard Wiener’s life story includes being a natural athlete, a teacher, a basketball coach, an athletic director, President of the Chicago Public League Athletic Directors Association, a member of the Chicago Public League High School Basketball Hall Of Fame, an author of three published books, and a recent Breast Cancer Survivor.
In February 2007 his beloved wife, Lynn passed away after a 10 year battle with breast cancer. Rich decided to retire professionally in June of the same year. He did not know that a few years later he would begin a second career as an author. Being single was a new experience for Rich. Dating stories became a topic of conversation at his parties. Friends encouraged him to write a book. So he did. However, fate had other plans for the former jock.
In February 2012 Rich received the life changing diagnosis of breast cancer. While fighting the disease he wrote the book “I Have What?? One Man’s Journey Through Breast Cancer”. Rich talks openly about Breast Cancer to the media and at book signings, as men are not exempt from what is referred to as a woman’s disease. An outpouring of support from men and woman of all ages encouraged Rich to share his motivational story with the public.
Mr. Wiener has published two other books, Check Please and Hurry! Truthful Stories of Dates Gone Wrong and Take My Date Please! Real Life Dating Disasters. He has a married daughter, son and three grandchildren. More information about Rich can be found at www.RichWiener.com.
