Sara Skillen is the founder and owner of SkillSet Organizing, a professional organizing business serving the Greater Nashville area. Her mission is to help busy people from all walks of life to develop right relationships with their “stuff”, their time, and their technology. Specializing in both situational and chronic disorganization clients, her passion is sharing her knowledge of organizing and productivity principles to creatively help people from all walks of life maintain control over their surroundings and thrive in a distracting world.
A former educator, musician and paralegal, Sara is also a wife, mother of two, and serial list-maker. She earned her degrees in Music Education and Music Performance from the University of Tennessee, and her Paralegal Certificate from the Southeastern Paralegal Institute. Sara transitioned to professional organizing in 2012, became an Evernote Certified Consultant in 2014, and a Certified Professional Organizer® in 2015. She has also earned Level I Certificates in Chronic Disorganization, Basic ADD, and Time Management & Productivity from the Institute for Challenging Disorganization. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), serves as the NAPO Ambassador for Tennessee, and chairs the NAPO Awards & Recognition committee. She presented empowerment sessions at the inaugural SURVIVORville convention in 2013, and returned to speak again at the same event in 2014. An active blogger and speaker, her tips and ideas have been featured in Fast Company, Enterpreneur, Angie’s List Experts, Clearing the Clutter Inside and Out podcast, NOU Magazine, as well as her own blog “Sorting Through the Haystack”. When not helping people tame clutter, she can be found managing DestiNation ImagiNation teams, walking her Labrador Retrievers, or trading book recommendations with friends.
