Alison Mayer Sachs is Community Outreach and Patient Support Services Director at Eisenhower Medical Center, Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center, where she is involved in the development, implementation and monitoring of community outreach, education, disease prevention and health promotion programs. She maintains a presence as a Certified Oncology Social Worker, facilitating five disease specific cancer support groups, providing direct patient care and offering patient education on a variety of cancer related topics. She is an instructor in the Eisenhower Medical Center Graduate Medical Education Program (GME) working with first and second year internal and family medicine residents, and a field instructor in the MSW program at the University of Southern California (USC). A member of AOSW since 2002, Alison served as a Director-at-Large from 2007 – 2008, was a member of four and Chairperson of two Annual Conference Planning Committees and has presented at each of the 2011-2014 conferences. Alison was the recipient of the 2011 AOSW Leadership in Oncology Social Work Award. Her professional affiliations include the American Cancer Society, Lung Cancer Alliance, the Desert Cancer Foundation and the Oncology Nursing Society.
