Speakers Bureau

Through Triage Cancer’s Speakers Bureau, cancer centers, hospitals, cancer organizations, and other groups that are coordinating educational events or cancer conferences can be connected with expert speakers on various cancer survivorship issues.

Triage Cancer's Speakers Bureau also includes cancer survivors and caregivers who have experience sharing their cancer journey with a variety of audiences. If you are planning an event, it is a good idea to request speakers as early as possible. Some of our speakers are often booked months in advance.

Below you can learn more about each speaker, sort speakers by particular areas of expertise, request a speaker directly, and read about potential topics that you may want to include in your next event!

Jet Mitchell

Stage IV Cancer Warrior. Attorney. Professor. Advocate.

Jet Mitchell is a proud Las Vegas local since 1995. She earned her MBA from the University of Texas in Arlington and her JD degree from Boyd School of Law at UNLV. Although she has been a licensed attorney in the state of Nevada since 2006, she has chosen to serve as a professor at the College of Southern Nevada, teaching management and marketing.  In addition to instructing, Jet has over 17 years of recruitment experience, primarily working with technology professionals in Southern Nevada.

In 2015, Jet was diagnosed with Stage IIIB breast cancer, having no family breast cancer history and having run a half marathon in all 50 states. Her 2015 and 2016 treatments included a double mastectomy surgery, extensive chemotherapy and intensive radiation treatments. When her disease progressed to a Stage IV metastatic breast cancer diagnosis in 2016, she continued aggressive chemotherapy treatments. As a Stage IV breast cancer patient, Jet will be in treatment for the rest of her life.

In addition to fierce physical activity, Jet’s response to advanced cancer includes strategic advocacy.  She is a public face and voice – via TV interviews, community videos, podcasts, public speaking and print media – for patients that, like her, will be in life-long treatment. Whenever she gets the opportunity, she shares her energy level – which is exceptionally high – and relentless optimism with other cancer fighters, survivors, and their supporters. She firmly believes that fighting cancer is a team sport and that having a badass support crew is essential whether finishing a particularly challenging half marathon or managing wicked side effects from a current chemotherapy regiment.

Her patient advocacy has broadened into numerous roles, including her current role of serving as a volunteer advocate speaker and leader with American Cancer Society’s Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) at the local, station, and national levels, reviewing grant applications as a panel reviewer for Southern Nevada Susan G Komen, and racing with the Pink Paddlers dragon boat team. She has used her role as an American Cancer Society’s Mission Message Speaker at Coaches vs Cancer and Making Strides Events, Technology Woman for Community Service Award in 2018, and Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation’s Person of Courage Award in 2018 as a platform to promote authentic, blunt, and relevant conversations for both Stage IV cancer fighters and supporters.

Jet is passionate about each cancer patient, and their support crew, advocating for their personal best possible medical and personal outcomes. She currently travels across the country – over 2700 miles each way – to participate in a clinical trial, as she believes this unique trial is her current best treatment option and she is committed to pursuing best results.

Jet has earned over 1 million airline miles and is working on her second million. She is a traveler with an important mission: regardless of how long the journey lasts, enjoy the adventure.
