We will also talk with local partners, The Smith Center, Nueva Vida, Food & Friends, and Georgetown Law Group, to learn about their programs and resources to help people in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

During this live and interactive webinar, social workers and nurses in attendance obtain a better understanding of managing health insurance and finances.  This webinar will cover how to make sure you have health insurance coverage that works for you and lowers your out-of-pocket costs, as well as other ways to help manage your finances. We will also talk with local partners, The Smith Center, Nueva Vida, Food & Friends, and Georgetown Law Group, to learn about their programs and resources to help people in the Washington, D.C. metro area. This webinar will provide social workers, nurses, and other types of health care professionals with a foundation to help patients make decisions and provide appropriate referrals. All attendees will have the opportunity to ask the speakers questions in real time via a chat-box.

ACCREDITATION INFORMATION

Nurses:  Triage Cancer is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Nurses who meet the requirements will be awarded 1.5 contact hour.

90 minutes of instruction/60 minutes = 1.5 contact hour

Social Workers: Triage Cancer, #1689, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Triage Cancer maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 08/26/2020 to 08/26/2023. Social workers completing this course receive 1.5 continuing education credit.

Triage Cancer is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0626. Social Workers completing this course will receive 1.5 contact hours.

HR Professionals: Triage Cancer is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Developmental Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP®. This program is valid for 1.5 PDCs for the SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP®. For more information about certification or recertification, please visit www.shrmcertification.org

In order to receive CE/contact hour, attendees must register individually. Participants who “listen in” on another participant’s phone/computer will not be eligible for credit. Participants must attend the entire webinar, no partial credit will be given.

Participants will be emailed a link to the online evaluation and post-test one hour after the completion of the webinar and will have one week to complete both. Participants must receive a passing grade (80%) on the post-test to receive CE/contact hour (please note: this is not required for HR professionals). Participants who do not pass the post- test will be given one opportunity to re-take the test. Instructions and a link to re-take the exam will be emailed to every participant who does not receive a passing grade on the post-test. If participants do not pass the post-test on the second attempt they will not receive credit.

The relevant certificates will be emailed to eligible attendees within 4 weeks of the event.

OBJECTIVES

  • Attendees will be able to delineate the major contributing factors to financial toxicity after a cancer diagnosis.
  • Attendees will be able to outline the various healthcare and health insurance options available to individuals diagnosed with cancer.
  • Attendees will be able to identify local resources for individuals diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers in the Washington, D.C. area.
