Alison Sachs, MSW, CSW, LSW, FAOSW
Biography
Recognized nationally for her leadership in the field of Oncology Social Work and her
expertise in building comprehensive cancer support programs, Alison sits on the Scientific
Advisory Board of the Go2Foundation For Lung Cancer; The Medical Advisory Board of Zero
Prostate Cancer and the Coachella Valley Desert Cancer Foundation.
Previously the Director of Community Outreach and Cancer Support Services, Alison was
responsible for the development, design, and implementation of community outreach
events, community education programs, oncology social work services, oncology nurse
navigation services and disease prevention and health promotion programs at Eisenhower’s
Lucy Curci Cancer Center. She maintained direct patient contact by facilitating numerous
cancer information & support groups with a particular expertise in both breast and prostate
cancer and was instrumental in the marketing and promotion of Eisenhower Medical
Center’s oncology care, helping to establish numerous cancer screening programs
throughout the health care vsystem.
Recognizing the need for donor support to help underwrite the cost of non-revenue
producing services, Alison worked closely with Eisenhower’s Foundation Office cultivating
donor relations and assisted Eisenhower’s PR/Marketing Department in identifying and
maximizing opportunities to highlight the cancer center’s programs and accomplishments
to a wide and varied audience locally, state-wide and nationally.
Alison has lectured extensively on the importance of support and education for cancer
patients, their loved ones and the community in general, on topics such as Cancer
Prevention in the 21 st Century, Communicating With Your Health Care Team, Caring for the
Caregiver, Getting the Best Cancer Care and Cancer Information & the Internet…Buyer

Previously Adjunct Faculty in Eisenhower’s Graduate Medical Education Residency Program
Alison co-authored a chapter in the Oxford text book The Handbook of Oncology Social
Work, and served as a reviewer on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Psychosocial
Oncology’s special section “The Art of Psychosocial Oncology”.
