International Cancer Education Conference 2022 – Abstract Oral Presentation – Triage Cancer’s Legal & Financial Navigation Program provides Individualized Education to Mitigate Financial Toxicity and Reduce Stress

The 2022 ICEC will be co-organized by the American Association for Cancer Education (AACE), the Cancer Patient Education Network (CPEN) and the European Association for Cancer Education (EACE). The 2022 conference plans to draw in more than 250 educators, physicians, nurses, public health professionals, researchers, students and social workers from around the world. Continuing Education credits will be provided for physicians, nurses, CHES professionals, and social workers.

Knowledge is power: The Black breast cancer experience is back! Last year we talked about ways to live well beyond your diagnosis. This year’s program, “A Roadmap to Living your Life while Navigating Breast Cancer,” will discuss understanding your treatment path, the cost of cancer, and navigating relationships.

Treatment for breast cancer affects all aspects of life. Research has shown that the total cost of treatment can range from $100,000 to $300,000. This session will help you navigate the financial burden of cancer treatment, including out-of-pocket healthcare costs, insurance, disability, and your rights in the workplace.

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) is pleased to host the June 2022 Policy Summit entitled “Cancer Care in the Workplace: Building a 21st Century Workplace for Cancer Patients, Survivors, and Caretakers” on June 17, from 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM EDT. The virtual and in-person summit will provide an opportunity for a varied group of oncology stakeholders to thoughtfully discuss the modern workplace. The summit will explore the impacts of contemporary benefit design, labor regulations, return-to-work practices and how these issues impact treatment, survivorship, and caregiving in the cancer community. The UI Cancer Center and ChicagoCHEC are hosting a survivorship day event on June 25th, 2022, via Zoom from 9 am to 12 pm titled “Sexuality After Cancer: Your Quality and Quantity of Life Matters.” The event is targeted to survivors and their health care providers. The event will consist of a panel of survivors and healthcare experts to go over key topics including understanding sexuality and the impact of cancer, how patient can talk with providers about sexual health, how providers should talk to their patients about sexual health, and resources and treatments on sexual health.
