Triage Cancer is also pleased to offer travel assistance to cancer patients and survivors, who would like to attend one of the 2020 Triage Cancer Conferences, but would not otherwise be able to attend because of the cost of traveling to the conference.

Travel assistance is limited and applications are reviewed as they are received or until funds run out, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Travel assistance is available in the form of a gas card to cover the cost of traveling by car to one of the conferences. As appropriate, Triage Cancer may also approve bus, train, or air travel if it is the most cost effective option. Triage Cancer may also cover the cost of one night stay at the conference hotel (room fee and taxes only; individuals will be responsible for any other incidentals). Individuals are only eligible for travel assistance once per calendar year. Applicants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel upfront.

Who is eligible for travel assistance?

Applicants must:
~ register and attend one of the Triage Cancer Conferences;
~ have been diagnosed with cancer;
~ have a demonstrated financial need;
~ live more than 40 miles from the conference location;
~ live in the United States;
~ agree to submit a testimonial about their conference experience; and
~ agree to share what they learn at the conference with others.

What is the timeline and process to receive travel assistance?

You must fully complete the application with accurate information. You will be asked to briefly describe your need for travel assistance and your financial situation. You will also be asked to describe how you will share the information you learn at the conference with others. All information provided to Triage Cancer will remain confidential.

Travel Assistance applications for the 2020 Triage Cancer Conferences are not available because the conferences are hosted virtually.  

You will be notified of the status of your application by email within three weeks from the date we receive your completed application. All travel assistance decisions are final and once the travel assistance funds have run out, the application process will close.

*Please note: If hotel accommodation is included as part of your assistance, you will be responsible for making your own reservation at the conference hotel. The gas gift cards and reimbursement will be distributed at the end of the conference, when you turn in your evaluation to a Triage Cancer staff member. If this causes you additional financial hardship, please let us know at info@triagecancer.org.
