Triage Cancer supports the following legislative efforts to improve laws for people coping with cancer.
Clinical Treatment Act (H.R. 913)
Guarantees coverage of the routine care costs of clinical trial participation for Medicaid enrollees with a life-threatening condition. This protections exists under the ACA for private health insurance. This coverage also exists under Medicare, and military and veterans plans.

Committed to eliminating barriers in patient access to cancer clinical trials.
Medicare Coverage of Hereditary Cancer Testing
In this letter to the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), 63 organizations expressed serious concerns that the overly broad interpretation of national coverage determination for next generation sequencing will restrict patient access to medically necessary and relevant clinical tests and adversely impact cancer care and outcomes.
Medical Expense Savings Act
This act would make permanent the 7.5 percent threshold for the medical expense deduction. Tax relief in this area can provide needed resources, especially important to middle income seniors with high medical costs
Letter to the U.S. Senate
Medicare National Coverage Determinations (NCD)
The bill will aim to change the Medicare statutes to allow for germline testing of affected and unaffected carriers who meet personal and/or family history criteria (as defined by NCCN). It would also cover evidence-based increased screening and risk-reducing surgeries.

One Voice Against Cancer (OVAC), a coalition of public interest groups representing millions of cancer researchers, physicians and nurses, patients, survivors and their families, urges congress to raise the FY 2020 budget caps for cancer research, treatment, prevention and detection.
