During this live and interactive webinar, social workers and nurses in attendance obtain a better understanding of estate planning and how to help their patients navigate a sometimes emotionally and legally complex topic. This webinar will explore the basics of estate planning, including the various documents that can make up an estate plan, what to consider when beginning the process of creating a plan, and options available to individuals to protect their medical decision making rights. This webinar will provide social workers, nurses, and other types of health care professionals with a foundation to help patients make decisions about estate planning and provide appropriate referrals. All attendees will have the opportunity to ask the speakers questions in real time via a chat-box.


12:00-12:05pm Central – Welcome, Speaker Introduction

12:05-1:25pm Central – Overview of the basics of estate planning, the various documents that can be included in an estate plan, things to consider when beginning an estate plan, and options available to individuals to protect their medical decision making rights.

Nurses:  Triage Cancer is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Nurses who meet the requirements will be awarded 1.5 contact hour.

90 minutes of instruction/60 minutes = 1.5 contact hour

Social Workers: Triage Cancer, #1689, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Triage Cancer maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 08/26/2020 to 08/26/2023. Social workers completing this course receive 1.5 continuing education credit.

Triage Cancer is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0626. Social Workers completing this course will receive 1.5 contact hours.

This course, Triage Cancer Webinar: Estate Planning, Approval #201412-1807, provided by Triage Cancer is approved for continuing education by the New Jersey Social Work Continuing Education Approval Collaborative, which is administered by NASW-NJ. CE Approval Collaborative Approval Period: Monday, February 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022. New Jersey social workers will receive 1.5 General CE credits for participating in this course.

HR Professionals: Triage Cancer is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® recertification activities.


In order to receive CE/contact hour, attendees must register individually. Participants who “listen in” on another participant’s phone/computer will not be eligible for credit. Participants must attend the entire webinar, no partial credit will be given.

Participants will be emailed a link to the online evaluation and post-test one hour after the completion of the webinar and will have one week to complete both. Participants must receive a passing grade (80%) on the post-test to receive CE/contact hour (please note: this is not required for HR professionals). Participants who do not pass the post- test will be given one opportunity to re-take the test. Instructions and a link to re-take the exam will be emailed to every participant who does not receive a passing grade on the post-test. If participants do not pass the post-test on the second attempt they will not receive credit.

The relevant certificates will be emailed to eligible attendees within 4 weeks of the event.
